Joseph Jay Mears died from a stroke on Jan. 18, 2017 in Huntsville Hospital. He was born to J.C. and Annie Mears on March 28, 1966 in Decatur. He is preceded in death by his father and brother, Byron Mears.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Mears of Decatur; son, Joseph Chance Mears; daughter, Kristian A. Mears; and four brothers, Jeffrey, Marty, Benjamin and Jonathan Mears.
Joseph will be remembered as a talented trim carpenter and builder. Also as a trumpet player in West Morgan’s band. He was beloved by family and many friends, and was a longtime employee of Upchurch Plumbing.
His homegoing service will be Saturday, Jan 21, 2017 at Roselawn Funeral Home with visitation from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Funeral following with Brother Anthony Simmons officiating.
Pallbearers will be family members.
