The Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Earle DeCastra Jr., 83, of Hoover, will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4600 Preserve Parkway, Hoover, Al 35226, with Father Henry McDaid officiating.Visitation will be at the church before the Mass, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Rite of Committal will be at graveside in Roselawn Cemetery, 741 Danville Road, SW, Decatur, Al 35601, at 3 p.m.
Mr. DeCastra, who died Friday, December 22, 2013, at Rittenhouse Senior Living in Hoover, was born May 7, 1930, in New York, N.Y., to Joseph and Grace DeCastra. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was retired fromĀ NASA. His loving wife, Mary DeCastra and his daughter, Marie DeCastra preceded him in death.
Survivors include his five sons, Joseph DeCastra III and wife Faye of Birmingham, Frank DeCastra and wife Anne of Pelham, Mike DeCastra and wife Carol of Homewood, John DeCastra and wife Patti of Hoover, Dan DeCastra and wife Nancy of Newburg, Ind.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
