Jonathan Edwin Carmack, 81, of Gates passed away Friday, November 10, 2023 at Lauderdale Community Hospital. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 PM Tuesday evening at Garner Funeral Home in Ripley. Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday at Garner Funeral Home with interment to follow in Carmack Cemetery.
Mr. Carmack, a member of Halls Church of Christ, was a retired truck driver, farmer, and served for 27 years in the Army National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edwin William and Ruby Zell (West) Carmack; a sister Dorothy (Carmack) Bridges; and 2 brothers Sam Riley Carmack and Edison Carmack.
He is survived by 3 daughters Rebecca Carmack Summar (Greg) of Halls, Sarah Carmack Phillippe (Wendy) of Ripley, and Elizabeth Carmack Sanchez (Sevedo) of Dyersburg; a son Joshua Edwin Carmack of Ripley; 2 sisters Penny Gaines of Halls and Jennifer Scutari of Stewart, FL; 4 brothers Joe Carmack of Spokane Valley, WA, Steve Carmack of Ripley, Frank Carmack of Halls and Bret Carmack of Halls; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
