Jonathan Dewayne “Jon Boy” Sides, 51, of Pelham, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
Family will be receiving friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 12 until 2 p.m. Service will follow in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, at 2 p.m., with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Jim Collins will officiate.
Jon was born in Montgomery, they lived in Prattville Area until he was around 11 years old and they moved to Pelham. He was a graduate of Pelham High School and attended Jeff State Community College. Jon worked for the City of Pelham where he retired as a Supervisor at the waterworks after 25 yrs. Following his retirement, he started his own business as a consultant for water systems for various companies. Jon was blessed with two wonderful nieces, Amber and Heather that meant the world to him. When Jon wasn’t working he loved riding motorcycles and ATV’s. He followed in his dad’s and his brother’s footsteps loving hot rod cars. Jon was all about driving that bike or vehicle at full throttle, just to see how far that ride could go.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Onvia Jean Windham Sides; grandparents, Nelvern and Lucille Sides and Walter and Tressie Windham.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Sides; father, Newell Wayne Sides; brother, Chris Sides; nieces, Amber Sides and Heather Sides and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Redemption Baptist Church 4505 Hwy 78 E Suite 400, Jasper, AL 35501.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Hulon, Ryan Acton, Brian Lunsford, Jeff Brown, Keith Windham and Jud Baker.
