Jonathan “Bear” Goode Klemm Clapp, born in Birmingham, Alabama and resided
in Gadsden, Alabama, departed his earthly body on November 30, 2022, after 23
years of a full and eventful life. He was one of the strongest young men most
people had ever met, overcoming significant odds, always with a smile on his
face. He touched the lives of everyone who met him and inspired others. As one
of the “Hazlewood Twins,” he was loved and cherished by so many, especially by
his family.
Jonathan was a world traveler, his most recent expeditions were to Nova Scotia,
Canada in May. He did more things in his short life than many people do in a
lifetime. And though Jonathan was not able to communicate verbally, he was one
of the smartest young men one would meet. He was sweet, funny, loving,
beautiful, and perfect in every way.
Jonathan is survived by his parents Bart and Emma Clapp of Gadsden. His other
“parents” Adam (Catie) Hyde of Calera, Alabama and Robin Klemm of Rome,
Georgia. Jonathan has an older sister, Daniella Clapp and his twin brother,
William Clapp. He is also survived by his grandparents G.W. and Robbie Clapp.
Jonathan has amazing Aunts and Uncles and cousins who all loved him very much.
As well as 4 dogs who all loved him, especially his dog Baxter.
He has now reunited with his Grandparents, Rick and Hilda Goode, and his
beloved dog Merlin, in Heaven.
The family has decided upon a private service and celebration of life to be held
after cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Policy
Council of Etowah County’s – A Night for Our Stars Special Needs Prom, in honor
of Jonathan, so that many more families are able to experience a magical night
that he enjoyed yearly. Jonathan and his twin brother, Will were the inspiration
for the creation of the Special Needs Prom and it will never be the same without
him. (Children’s Policy Council – 821 E. Broad Street Gadsden, AL 35903)
The family would like to extend a thank you to many people who helped to take
care of Jonathan throughout his years. But specifically, Dr. Jason Junkins, who
made it possible for him to live his life comfortably at home. And Dr. Nancy
McCorkle, who was always kind to him through his lifetime in her care. And all of
the EMT/Paramedics/Fire Dept./Nurses/Doctors, etc. who were always kind
during stressful times.
