Johnny Scruggs, age 82, of Humboldt, TN passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024. He was born in Humboldt on September 15, 1941, son of the late Coleman Nichols “Nick” Scruggs and Annie Mai Ball Scruggs. A private memorial will be held for the family.
A graduate of Humboldt High School, Mr. Scruggs attended University of Tennessee at Martin and served as a Specialist in the United States Army from 1964-1966.
Mr. Scruggs owned and operated Humboldt Milk Company. He was a member of Humboldt First United Methodist Church and the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution. He had a passion for horses and volunteered with the West TN Strawberry Festival Horse Show.
Throughout his life, Johnny showed great interest in genealogy, Lady Vols basketball, Little League baseball, and quietly enjoying his breakfast around the table at the coffee shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Nickie Scruggs Lewis.
Mr. Scruggs is survived by his four children: Tracy (Doug), Rob, Jenny (Eric), and John (Ashley); as well as his greatest pride in life, his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Nothing put a bigger smile on his face than telling stories about them.
