Johnny “Ray” Duvall, age 86, of Dothan, formerly of Albertville, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023.
Ray is survived by his devoted wife and sweetheart of 68 years, Dean Duvall, who stood by his side through the joys and challenges of life. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a lasting commitment that serves as an inspiration to all who knew them.
A compassionate and devoted man, Ray spent many years as a minister, guiding and uplifting those in his community through faith and love. His spiritual journey touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he served.
He leaves behind two loving daughters, Denise Duvall Harrison of Graceville, FL, and Donna Duvall Hicks of Athens, AL. Ray’s legacy extends to his grandchildren, Michelle Thornton Barfield of Dothan, AL, Jay Thornton (Valarie) of Decatur, AL, and Jody Hicks (Jessica) of Madison, AL. His spirit will live on through his seven great-grandchildren: Damien, Katherine, Emily, Jax, Samuel, Julian, and Ryleigh. Ray is also survived by his sister, Terry Duvall of Huntsville, AL, who shares the memories of a lifetime with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Grace Duvall, as well as his sisters, Sue Elrod and Faye Carr, and his brother, Houston Duvall.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Ray’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Clinard, officiating and Jay Thornton presenting the eulogy. The family will be available to receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Ray’s final resting place will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens, 6810 University Drive NW, Huntsville, AL. 35806
