Funeral Services for Mr. Johnny “Monk” Morrison, age 73 of Lineville, will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Zenus Windsor officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Morrison passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2022 at Russell Medical Center in Alex City. Born and raised in Clay County, Mr. Morrison graduated from Lineville High School. He worked for Alabama Power for 6 years as a lineman and Foreman, but worked primarily as a truck driver for multiple companies for over 45 years. He also worked for Towns Transportation in Prattville as a dispatcher for some time. Outside of work, “Monk” as he was known, enjoyed fishing, hunting, cutting grass, and gardening with his wife. “Monk” was installed as a Mason on October 4, 1994, was a Master Mason, and had recently been serving as Jr. Warden. He was a member of the Lineville Lodge #219 and Ashland Lodge #356. Mr. Morrison loved his boxer Charlie, and his other pets, and had attended Lineville Baptist Church.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sue Camp Morrison; his son, Keith Mezick, both of Lineville; his sister, Jean Morgan (John) of Pensacola, FL; his special nieces, Donna Lee Morgan (Daniel) of Santee, SC and Amy Wright; his sister-in-law, Janis Powell (Coye) of Goldville; his brother-in-law, Donny and Cathy Camp of Lineville, plus extended family.
He is preceded in death by his parents: J. Thurman Morrison, Horace Mitchell and Edlene Griffin.
Active Pallbearers will be Jason Freeman, Amos Fuller, Jackson Bonner, Ricky Whaley, Wesley McCollum, Larry Jordan, Benny Morrison, and Allen Flowers.
His visitation will take place on Sunday, April 24, 2022 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and up until service time at 12:00 PM on Monday.
