Johnny F. Stephenson Sr., 83, of Moulton, Alabama passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Copeland officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens.
Born on February 24, 1941, in Mount Hope, AL, to Monroe and Ruthie Martin Stephenson, Johnny was a deacon, trustee, and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Moulton. Johnny was retired from the Department of the Army. Papa loved farming, but he especially loved spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Woodard Stephenson; two children, J.F. (Sonja) Stephenson and Stefanie (John) Montgomery; grandchildren, Whitney (Michael) Hackney, Collins (Lacey) Montgomery, Ari (Austin) Dutton, and Daniel (Hayden) Stephenson; great-grandchildren, Sadie Montgomery, Vivian Hackney, Finn Hackney, Jacob Montgomery, and arriving soon, Ali Blake Dutton; one brother, Billy Stephenson; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe and Ruthie Stephenson; and one brother, Elwyn Stephenson.
Pallbearers will be Collins Montgomery, Daniel Stephenson, Michael Hackney, Austin Dutton, Randy Pickens, and Mike Pugh.
The family extends special thanks to Beth LouAllen, Hospice of the Valley especially nurses, Elana, Brandie, and Sheneka.
