Mr. Johnny Carson Barrett, age 67, of Union Grove, AL passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 20, 2024. Johnny was born January 14, 1957 in Miami, Florida to Johnny Clarence Barrett and Dorothy Olga Williams Barrett. Johnny has been a resident of Union Grove the majority of his life. He worked as an I.T. Technician as a subcontractor for the US government.
Johnny was a man with a variety of interests. He enjoyed smoking fine cigars and had a nice collection of pipes. In addition to collecting pipes, he accumulated an extensive collection of Hawaiian shirts, Hooters memorabilia, and old cameras. He had a passion for photography and was a huge Star Trek fan, a true Trekkie. Johnny was also a Subaru Ambassador and attended Subaru conventions and events on a regular basis in order to promote the vehicles. He was such an enthusiast that he had given his own Subaru vehicles names, Serenity and Rommie. Johnny also had a couple of pets he was quite fond of, two tarantulas, ZZ and Arizona.
Family members Johnny leaves behind to cherish memories include brothers, Bruce Barrett (Brentis) and Tommy Barrett; special nieces, Tina Ellis and Christy Sexton, and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Dorothy Barrett and two siblings, James Carson Barrett and Teeny Barrett.
The family has chosen to honor Johnny’s wishes for cremation with no traditional services.
