Johnny B. Baxter, 81, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. He was born on December 15, 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Herbert Henry Baxter and Florence Stokes Baxter. Johnny grew up in Blytheville and was a graduate of Blytheville High School. He married the former Judy Young in 1962. Johnny’s entire working career was as a seed salesman. He worked for the Wax Company and later Pennington Seed Company, traveling throughout Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama. Throughout his career he made many friends and customers. Johnny enjoyed spending quality time at home with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of Amory Global Methodist Church.
Johnny is survived by his sons, Keith Baxter (Mary) and Kevin Baxter (Dana), all of Amory; grandchildren, Jennifer Justice (John), Mitchell Baxter (Jordan), Hali Hoffpauer, Nick Chambers (Angelica); great grandchildren, Westin Zepeda, Ruby Hoffpauer, Kinsley Justice, Mason Baxter, Matthew Baxter, Karli Justice, Kolten Justice and Korie Beth Justice.
In addition to his parents, Johnny is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Baxter; infant son, Christopher Lee Baxter; brothers, Herbert Henry Baxter, Jr. and Delbert Baxter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Cleveland Moffett Funeral Home in Amory with Rev. Wesley Pepper and Keith Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in Amory Masonic Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 10 AM until the service hour at 11 AM.
