Johnnie Ruth Mathis McCord went to her heavenly home on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born October 12, 1936 to Carl and Ruby Shields Mathis in Corinth, MS. She had an artistic nature and her talent shined brightly in her beautiful paintings and quilts. In her spare time you could find her sewing, painting, quilting and listening to gospel music. She loved her family beyond measure. Ms. Johnnie was a Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior an was a member of Kendrick Baptist Church. Her family will miss her bright spirit, creative personality, and loving heart.
Those left to carry on her memories are her three sons, Bryan McCord, John McCord (Corinne) and Bobby McCord (Melica), two sisters, Glenda Brumfield and Shirley Scenalut, three grandchildren, Kim Waldrop, Charley McCord, and Christy McCord and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Bobby Carl Mathis.
A private family only service to honor a life well lived will be on Wednesday. December 4, 2024 at Wheeler Grove Cemetery at 11:00am with her son Bobby McCord officiating.
