Mr. Johnnie Ray Pedigo In Loving Memory of Johnnie Ray Pedigo

Johnnie Ray Pedigo, age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Scottsboro, Alabama.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and wisdom that will forever be cherished by
his family and friends. His departure has left a void in our hearts, but his spirit will continue to
live on in the memories we shared and the values he instilled in us.

Johnnie was born on June 25, 1951 in Huntsville, Alabama to his proud parents, Norvel and
Marjorie Pedigo. Johnnie was a devoted family man who dedicated himself wholeheartedly to
the happiness and well-being of his family. He was a loving husband of fifty-two years to Helen
Potter Pedigo, a constant pillar of support through thick and thin. Together, they created a warm
and nurturing home that radiated with love and laughter.

Professionally, Johnnie achieved remarkable success. He excelled in his chosen career as a
grocery store manager, demonstrating an exceptional work ethic and an unwavering
commitment to excellence. His dedication earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues, who regarded him as a mentor and a role model. He is also well remembered as a
pivotal part of the Grant, Swearengin, and Scottsboro communities as the proud owner of the
Pedigo Junction convenience stores.

Johnnie possessed a zest for life that was contagious. He had a passion for Alabama football
and was always eager to discuss his Tide with others. His presence lit up every room he
entered, and his infectious laughter brought joy to all those around him. His warm smile and
kind heart touched the lives of countless individuals.

In our hearts, Johnnie will forever remain an irreplaceable figure. Though he is no longer with
us, his spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear. We find solace in knowing that he has found
eternal peace and is reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

Johnnie is survived by Helen Potter Pedigo, his loving children Kristie Shankles (Michael) and
Kimberly Poteete (David), his adoring grandchildren, Tyler Shankles (Kaitlin), Arick Shankles,
Brennen Shankles (Sunny), Kailee Orianna Poteete, Ean Poteete, Isaac Poteete, two great
granddaughters Adelaide and Athena Shankles, brother Jackie Pedigo (Diane), along with a
host of relatives and friends who were touched by his presence. His memory will be forever
cherished and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

A funeral service to honor and celebrate Johnnie’s life will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at
2:00 PM at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Shirley Byrum and Rev. James “Totchie” McLain officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 21,2023 from 5:00-9:00 PM. We invite all those whose lives were touched by Johnnie to join us as we pay our final respects to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on our hearts.

The family would like to thank the staff of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
