johnnie-wilson-obituaryJohnnie Monroe Wilson, 97, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014, at ECM Hospital.
Mr. Wilson was a native of Eutaw, Alabama, but had lived in this area for many years. He was a member and active deacon of Southside Baptist Church. He was retired from the Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with entombment in Franklin Memory Mausoleum. Officiating will be Daniel Welborn and Jim Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 18, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Wilson; children, Peggy Vernon (Raymond), Russellville, Johnnie Wilson (Donna), Haleyville, Jimmie Wilson (Shirley), Jacksonville, Florida, and David Jennings (Janet), Hackleburg; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary bearers will be deacons of Southside Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie P. Wilson, parents, Jim and Katie Bell Wilson, four sisters, three brothers, granddaughters, Angela Vernon and Christy Jennings, grandsons, Paul Jennings and Danny Jennings.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Southside Baptist Church.
Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, will be directing.
