Johnnie Gene Walker, age 75 of Tullahoma, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at her residence. She was born October 7, 1946 in Sewanee to the late John and Dixie Smith Beene. She was an educator for 50 years with the Franklin County School System and also played and coached softball. In 1976, she placed 8th in the world in skeet shooting. She loved the outdoors, fishing, traveling, and the Lady Vols. Her family and friends will remember her as being friendly, outspoken, compassionate and how she always looked out for her school children. She is survived by her children, Becky Cowan (James), Josh (Laura) Hornaday, and Julie (Chris) Watkins; grandchildren, Peyton (Emma) Cowan, John Dylan Cowan, Lincoln Watkins, Gracie Watkins, Lexus and Haven Hornaday; great-grandchild, Aubrey Cowan; special friend of 25 years, Rosemary Vaughan; adopted sisters, Elaine V. Weaver, Susan (David) D’Angelo, Teddy Corbin (John Reed), Bettie Copeland, Jeannie (Bobby) Rymer and Karen Vaughan. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home.
