Johnnie B Ellis Wyers, age 87 of Eldridge, entered into rest on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at her home. She was born to John Wesley Ellis, Sr. and Lettie Banks Ellis on November 9, 1934, in Jasper, AL. She and her late twin brother, J.W. Ellis, were the youngest of eight children. On April 17, 1960, Johnnie married the love of her life Donald Marcus Wyers, Sr. at the 6th Ave. church of Christ. She was a loving mother to three children Marcus, Janell, and Bartley, and she was “Mamaw” to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Johnnie dearly loved her family. She and Marcus were married for 61 years, 8 months, 9 days and had a wonderful life together. She loved and supported her children in every endeavor. She was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. Johnnie loved family time especially playing board games and making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren. She leaves a godly legacy on her husband, children and grandchildren. She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. Johnnie was a faithful Christian and servant of the Lord. She served as an elder’s wife and children’s Bible class teacher for many decades at the Eldridge church of Christ. For 28 years, she served the town of Eldridge as the town clerk achieving the rank of Master Municipal Clerk. In this position, she was recognized by many organizations including being conferred as a Certified Municipal Clerk (1998), given the Distinguished Service Award by the Alabama League of Municipalities (2000), selected as the Alabama Association of Municipal Clerks Municipal Clerk of the Year nominee (2003), earned the Designation of Master Municipal Clerk by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (2004), and was included in Strathmore’s Who’s Who for Leadership and Achievement in her profession. Johnnie also served as the president of the Walker Co. PTA, and she was a founding member of the ladies associates at International Bible College in Florence, AL. Johnnie will be missed by all who were blessed by her loving, godly influence. Johnnie was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Ellis, Sr. and Lettie Banks Elli; one grandson, John Bartley Wyers; five brothers and their wives, two sisters. Johnnie is survived by her loving, devoted husband of almost 62 years, Donald Marcus Wyers, Sr.; three children, Marcus Wyers (Deneen), Janell Wyers Aultman (Phillip) and Bartley Wyers (Kim); nine grandchildren, Tiffany Wyers Guin (Justin), Shannon Wyers, Emily Wyers, Adam Aultman (Sally), Eric Aultman (Anna), Alex Aultman (Kelsey), Holly Aultman Apple (Jerry), Laura Wyers and Sean Wyers; five great-grandchildren, Afton Kate Guin, Isaac Blake Guin, Benjamin Marcus Guin, Ellis Pearl Aultman, and Lawson Rex Aultman and many friends. The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 12 until 1 p.m., at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m., in the Kilgore-Green Chapel, with burial at Walker Memory Gardens. Gilbert Behel, Lonnie Ingram, Mike King, and Justin Guin are the officiating ministers and Joel Ellis will lead the singing. Glen Robb will officiate at the graveside service. The service will be on Facebook live on Kilgore-Green Facebook page.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
