Johnie Eugene Wiginton, 86, of Glen, Mississippi, formerly of Zachary, Louisiana, died Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Wiginton was a member of Chapel Hill Independent Methodist Church, and was a former member of Zachary United Methodist Church. He served as a cook in the U. S. Army, and was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Wiginton was formerly employed by the U. S. Postal Service, and was the first walking mail carrier in Zachary, LA, where he was known locally as “Walking Wiginton”. He also did TV repair work, and retired from Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in St. Francisville, LA, after twenty-five years of service. Johnie enjoyed working in his shop and gardening. He also enjoyed woodworking, camping, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 7, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 8, at Chapel Hill Independent Methodist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday. Services will be officiated by Bro. Scotty McCay. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers include Chris Stroud, Justin Welch, Randy VanOsdell, Tyler VanOsdell, David Young, and Jeremy Wiginton. Cutshall Funeral Home of Glen, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Reynolds Wiginton of Glen; one daughter, Deb Rankin of Glen; one sister, Shirley Young (Billy) of Burnsville; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Muriel Wiginton; two sons, Michael and John Wiginton; his parents, Elmer and Lillie Williams Wiginton; two brothers, Melton and Billy Wiginton; and a sister, Lottie Wiginton.
