Mr. Johnie Barnard Sandlin, 79, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at his residence. Visitation will be Friday, March 11, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, March 11, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Bowen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Winfield City Cemetery.

He was born on September 5, 1936, in Brilliant, AL. Mr. Sandlin worked as a coal miner most of his life and a licensed minister he was also an avid reader of the Bible and enjoyed music & playing the guitar, fishing, wood working and most of all spending time with his family.

Mr. Sandlin was preceded in death by his parents, William Avery and Pearlie Spiller Sandlin, 6 sisters, Frances Lopez, Mary Cauwels, Christine Bryan, twins, Adell & Liddell Sandlin and Zittie Jo Sandlin, 3 brothers, James Sandlin, Steven Sandlin and Odis Sandlin.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Evans Sandlin of Winfield; daughter, Sandra (David) Scogin of Winfield; 1 son, Christopher (Cindy Chandler) Sandlin of Winfield, 1 grandson, Adam (Holly) Scogin; 5 great-grandchildren, Allie, Elijah and Branch Scogin, Noah & Reese Wyers; 2 brothers, Donald (Maedean) Sandlin of Winfield and Roger Sandlin of Winfield; 1 sister, Rachel Stocks of Winfield, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
