John William Smith age 92 of Athens, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at Athens Rehab and Senior Care. Mr. Smith was born July 12, 1923 in Lawrence County, AL to Samuel Solomon Smith and Lula Belle Grimes Smith.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 6, 2015 2:00 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, AL with Donnie Rogers and Don Osborne officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ. He was retired from McCulloch Appliance Company in Decatur.
Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lula Smith; his wife, Lois Smith; two brothers, Doc Smith; one sister, Pearlie Letson.
Survived by one daughter, Connie Crafts and husband, Roger of Athens; two grandchildren, Will Crafts and wife, Amy and Mary Beth Toone and husband, Shawn both of Athens; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Toone, Annsley Toone and John Wyatt Toone; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Smith, Randy Smith, Will Crafts, Gary Gilliland, Ervin Palmer and Shawn Toone. Honorary pallbearer will be Ryder Toone.
