John William “Sam” Andrews, 89, retired mechanic for Wright & Lopez, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at his residence on Robert Truelove Road.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Reverend Richard VanCleave officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Springs Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born April 17, 1931 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Charlie Glenson Andrews and the late Audi Mae Parrish Andrews. In 1951, he married Mary Lou Gilliam Andrews who preceded him in death in 2020. He served in the National Guard for several years. In earlier years, Mr. Andrews worked for Goodyear Tire Company, and was known for raising a big garden every year. Mr. Andrews was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.
Survivors include Bobby Ray (Lynn) Andrews of Columbia; Billy Wayne (Carol) Andrews of Columbia; Michael Terry (Barbara) Andrews of Columbia; daughters-in-law, Jill Andrews, Diane Andrews; brother, Randolph “Randy” Andrews of Murfreesboro; sisters, Delores Andrews of Mt. Pleasant; Cathy Andrews of Florida; grandchildren, Rebecca Andrews, Kristy Andrews, Mary Beth Andrews, Megan Andrews, Shannon Andrews, Darrel Andrews, Shane Andrews, Nick Andrews, and David Andrews; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death his sons, William Edward “Bill” Andrews, John Riley Andrews; grandson, Trinity Ryan Andrews; sisters, Frances Andrews, Betty Howell, Nadine Masterson, and brothers, Charles Glenson Andrews, Gillie Andrews, Eddie Andrews, Dennis Paul Andrews, and Jerry Lee Andrews.
Active pallbearers will be Darrell Andrews, Shane Andrews, Nick Andrews, David Andrews, Ben Andrews, Walker Andrews, Eli Andrews, and Hayden Goff. Honorary pallbearers include Deacons at Rock Springs Baptist Church.
