John William Davis, Sr., age 95 of Tuscumbia passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Visitation will be Monday, January 18, 2016 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Henry Melton officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Mr. Davis was a native and lifelong resident of Tuscumbia. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines serving as Chief Radio Operator during WWII. He was a retired electrician from Reynolds Metals and a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; daughter, Ondyna; father, John Davis; mother, Ethel Davis a notable local artist; and brother, Elbert Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene Harris Davis; son, John W. Davis and wife Lori; son-in-law, Tommy Hogland; grandchildren, Kelly Thompson, Jana Moore, Brian Davis, and Chris Davis; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, and Jake Thompson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
