Funeral service for John William Allen, age 85, of Decatur, will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Williams and Jacob Cockrell officiating. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Allen, who died Friday, February 9, 2024, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born September 1, 1938, in Alabama to John Harvey Allen and Etta Sanders Allen. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Randall Allen; parents; brother, Max Allen; three sisters, Harvene Vandergrift (Austin), Faye Ingle (Donald), and Kathleen Head (James); and son-in-law, Tony Ray King. Mr. Allen was a welder with North Alabama Fabrication and enjoyed farming and gardening.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Naylor Allen; son, John W. H. Allen (Derrell); five daughters, Peggy JoAnn King, Joyce Ann Smith (Randall), Juanita Mobley (Lonnie), Miranda Allen, and Kristy Allen Perry; five grandchildren, Dominick Baumbarger, Jacob Cockrell (Kimberly), Meghan Cockrell, Shyanne Allen, and Nevaeh Allen; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul Naylor, Dominick Allen, Steve Naylor, Dewayne Skipworth, Jacob Cockrell, and Brandon Naylor.
