John Wesley Nugent, 72, of Anderson, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2023 at his residence. He was a 1968 graduate of Lauderdale County High School and attended the University of Montevallo where he met his first wife. He had numerous jack-of-all trades to include precision machinist, redneck commercial fisherman, owner/operator of OTR truck driver and lastly, a distributor of poultry based organic fertilizer. Papa Nugent was a fish and fowl enthusiast, and avid supporter of any school his children or grandchildren attended.
A celebration of life will be Thursday, February 2nd from 3 – 4 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home.
Mr. Nugent was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Porter, Sr.; mother, Robbie S. Nugent; siblings, Mike Nugent, and Terry Nugent. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rhonda Redd Nugent; children, Stephen Nugent, Selisa (Garrick) Williams, Mark (Shelley Tucker) Nugent and Sheila Ellison; grandchildren, Theodora, John, Sadie, Sophie, and Porter; siblings, Daniel P. Nugent, Diane Arnold, Jacque Hopkins, and D. Scott Nugent; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended fishing family.
