Mr. John Wesley Johnson, 75, passed away Sunday August 28, 2016 at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro. He was born in Tracy City on November 27, 1940 to Roy and Hazel Byers Johnson who preceded him in death along with his brothers, Herman, Carl and Doug Johnson; sisters, Neva Shrum and Zelma Haynes.
He was retired from the Tennessee Department of Transportation and was a member of the Church of Christ at Coalmont.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazel Sweeton Johnson; son, Wes (Judy) Johnson Jr.; daughters, Jody (Victor) Wright and Sonya (Tim) Garner; sister, Faye (George) Coppinger; grandchildren, Amanda (Barry), Ian (Cassie), Marina, Collin (Hannah), John W. III, Brandi and Jeremiah; great grandchildren, Brandon, Harlee, Andie, Emily and Hunter; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Minister Ray Winton officiating with burial to follow in the Coalmont Cemetery. Visitation: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM Tuesday at Layne Funeral Home, Altamont, Tennessee. www.laynefuneralhome.com
