John Wayne Self, 66, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Shoals Hospital. He was born May 3, 1946 in Red Bay. He was a supervisor for Franklin County Highway Department and a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay with Bro. Steve Lindsay officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of 43 years-Linda Self; Two sons-Jerry Wayne Self (Dana Cox) and Charmon Lynn Self all of Red Bay; two brothers-Elmer Lee Self and Donald Ray Self both of Red Bay; one sister-Charlene Welch of Louisana.
He was preceded in death by his parents-Robert Lee and Bertha Mae Boyd Self and two brothers-Jessie Lee Self and James Boyd Self.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. and until service time on Tuesday.
