Graveside services for Mr. John Wayne Scroggins, age 85, will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday January 5, 2021 in Rose Hill Cemetery at Humboldt, TN with Chaplain James Watferd officiating.

Mr. Scroggins was born June 4, 1935 to William R. and Irene (Wingo) Scroggins in Eliasville, Young County, Texas. Mr. Scroggins passed away on January 1, 2021 at his home in Jackson, TN.

Mr. Scroggins was an electrical Technician in the oil and gas industry in New Mexico and Texas for thirty years.

Mr. Scroggins was active in the Dumas , TX Church of the Nazarene as a board member, Sunday School Superintendent, bus driver, youth leader and interim choir director. Mr. Scroggins was the Southeastern New Mexico Group Commander for Civil Air Patrol serving in Communications, search and rescue operations, and the cadet program. After retirement Mr. Scroggins served the Dumas, TX Independent School District as a bus driver for five years.

Mr. Scroggins loved hunting, fishing and flying.

Mr. Scroggins is survived by: his wife of 66 1/2 years Rena (Kelley) Scroggins of Jackson, TN; two daughters Pamela and husband Cliff Little of Jackson, TN, Patricia Montei of Galatin, TN , Kelly and husband Al Almanza of Kapolei, Hawaii; four sisters Gail and husband Glyn Wasser of Pueblo West CO, Peggy and husband Alton Dunn of Kermit, TX, Ruth and husband Eldon Sikes of Huston, TX, and Martha and husband Frank Neeley of Conroe, TX; three brothers Lacy and wife Bea Scroggins of Bartlesville, OK, Ron and wife Dana Scroggins of Castle Rock, CO and Don and Barbara Scroggins of Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren Alex and Becky Hodge, Jeremy and Debbie Little, Katrina and David Almanza, Jonah Montei, Tara Johnson, and Alan Almanza; step grandchildren Andy and Crystal Little and Steve and Ashly Little; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and several neices and nephews.

Mr. Scroggins was a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
