John Wayne Patterson, 69, Phil Campbell, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at his residence.
He proudly served his country as a member of the Army Air Force, the Mississippi National Guard, and served in Viet Nam. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He was a gifted singer and musician.
The visitation will be 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Spry Memorial Chapel. Bro. Curtis Taylor and Bro. William Borden will officiate. Burial will be at Spruce Pine Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Welch Patterson; children, Alysia Graves (husband, Kurt), Jonathan Strickland (wife, Jessica), Christy Nix Woodson (husband, Michael), Lorie Nix, Dustin Patterson, Alexis Patterson; grandchildren, Madelyn Graves, Conner Graves, Braxton Strickland, Canaan Pounders; siblings, Patsy McCrimon (husband, Mike), William Welch (wife, Shelia); mother-in-law, Jo Ann Welch; 1 nephew, 3 nieces; and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Inez Patterson; father-in-law, William Welch.
The pallbearers will be Randy Cooper, Chris Farris, Gary Duboise, Michael Smith, Tim Heath, Robert Williams, Bobby Williams, and Joey Berry.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
