Mr. John Wayne Gravette of Toney, Alabama passed away on Friday evening. He was 82.
He had retired from Goodyear Rubber Company in 2000 after having spent his working career with Dunlop and then Goodyear. In his younger years, he loved breaking mules, trail riding, plowing with his mules, going to antique car shows and local auctions.
He was preceded in death by his step-son, Everett Rice. his brother, Lendon Gravette.
He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Betty Malone Gravette; His step-daughter, Lisa Perry; his son, John R. Gravette; his daughters, Tracy Renee Venier (and her children, Katie and Kristin) and Joanna Bryant and her children; his grandchildren: Tacoa Russ, Derrick Russ, Alexander Rice, Paul Rice, and Ashlyn Gravette; his brother, Rickey Gravette; his sister, Sheila Gravette. his sister, Gail Stewart.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday beginning at Noon at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with Brother David Whitten officiating. Burial will then be in New Sharon Cemetery.
