John W. Mayes, Sr, 80, of Grant, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024.
Mr. Mayes was the 2nd of seven children born to Mr. Floyd and Ms. Olean (White) Mayes in Trenton, Alabama. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 54 years, Marie. He is survived by his sons: John W. Mayes, Jr (Christine), Kenny Mayes (Candice), and Darrell Mayes (Sabrina); ten grandchildren (Marissa, Alainah, Matthew, Nataleigh, Austin, Evan, Cody, Leah, Kylan, and Elijah) and two great-grandchildren (Emma and Noah).
Mr. Mayes had a great love for fishing and for tinkering with small machines. His dog, Lulu, had a special place in his heart and comforted him often.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 7th from 10:00-11:00 at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by service at 11:00 with Rev. Rick Beck officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
