John W. Massengale of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning while surrounded by his loving family..  He was 81.  Mr. Massengale was born in Greensboro, Alabama and then lived in Selma, Prattville and lastly, Hazel Green.  He was a faithful follower of Christ and part of the Plainview Church of Christ.   He had served in the Army National Guard.

Mr. Massengale was preceded in death by his daughter, Lynn Massengale Robins, by his granddaughter,  Emily Pollard, and by his parents, Burley & Julia Campbell Massengale.

Surviving family members include his wife of 34 years, Pat Massengale;  his son, Stan Massengale; his son-in-law, Brooks Robins;  his step-son, Lynn Rodman (Nikki);  his step-daughter, Julie Rodman;  his grandchildren:  Katie Edwards, Julia Baker (Cody), Chase Massengale, Jarrod Maddox, Cade Rodman, and Jenna Rodman.  He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren:  Kamryn Bice, Dawson Harris, Brody Harris, Kara Harris, Emerald Harris, Nichole Maddox, Trevor Maddox, and by many friends.

Funeral services will be Monday at 12PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Brother Steve Hale officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning an hour before the service.    A graveside service will be Tuesday at 10am at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
