John Thomas (Tommy) Russell of Goodspring, TN passed away on Saturday September 14th, 2024. Tommy was born on June 21, 1949 and was 75 years old.
Tommy was wonderful husband, father, father-in-law, granddaddy, and friend for all those he was around. He graduated from Bodenham School in 1967, where he was an outstanding basketball player. Tommy served his country by serving in the National Guard. He worked in management for Magotteaux and Johnson Controls for many years making countless friends along the way. Tommy was a man who lived life to the fullest venturing into many endeavors throughout his life-time. Some included owning his own business, farming, buying and selling antiques, selling fireworks and wood working. He loved talking and getting to know the people he would come in contact with along the way. He never met a stranger. One of his joys was spending time and teaching his grandchildren all about life, whether it was woodworking or gardening, he was always sharing his knowledge. Tommy loved God, his family, his friends, and his country deeply. In his later years, he was faced with many health issues; however, Tommy was not a man who gave up. Instead, he looked for ways to keep going each and every day. His strength and fight for life has been an inspiration to his family and all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024 at 1:00pm in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
The burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vanderbilt’s Children’s Hospital or any other charity of your choice.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, John Russell, mother, Mary Lorene Russell, sister, Beverly Russell, brother, John Alvin Russell, and sister-in-law, Jane Russell.

Lisa (Paul) Caouette of Madison, AL
Brother-in-law, Kenny Yowell of Lynnville, TN.
