John Thomas Jackson – Obituary

Mr. John Thomas Jackson, age 84, of Lester passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Jackson was born November 21, 1931 in Limestone County to Heflin Ozro Jackson and Vivian Johnson Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Heflin and Vivian Jackson and brothers, Waddell Jackson and Mickey Jackson.

Mr. Jackson is survived by his wife Ellaree Lynn Jackson; four daughters, Cathy Hayes (Bobby), Gayle Johnson (Mike), Kay Jackson, and Amy Jordan (Jimmy); grandchildren, Robin Vincent, Robert Hayes, Jonathan Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Elizabeth Jordan, Rachel Jordan, and Cody Jordan; great-grandchildren, Grant Gurganus, Hayden Gurganus, Carter Vincent, Parker Johnson, and Landon Johnson; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Services for Mr. Jackson will be Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bobby Wade officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 at the Chapel. Burial will be at Hester’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Hayes, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Jordan, Robert Hayes, Ryan Vincent, Jonathan Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Cody Jordan, and Grant Gurganus.

Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a farmer, and a member of Hester’s Chapel Church of Christ. He loved to walk the land and the hills of his farm and to fish in the creek.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
