John Thomas (J.T.) Knight

John Thomas (J.T.) Knight, 88, stepped into the presence of his Lord and Savior Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. He was born April 7, 1936 in the Fawn Grove Community to the late William Barry Knight and the late Charlie Mae Thomas Knight. He graduated from Fulton High School and served in the United States Army. He worked for Domino Sugar before returning to Tupelo where he worked as Traffic Manager for Super Sagless for 30 years. He was a member of Fawn Grove Free Will Baptist Church. Through the years John enjoyed his family, CB radios, riding motorcycles and playing music on his bass with friends at the Carolina Community Center.
Services will be at 4:00 pm on Sunday June 9, 2024, Fawn Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Booker officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Saturday June 8, 2024, at Senter Funeral Directors. Burial will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery. Senter Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
John was married to Ruby Faye Knight for 50 years and they had a son, Michael (Judy) Knight of Saltillo, who gave them 3 grandsons: Will Knight of Granite Falls, NC, Auston Knight of Saltillo, Coy (Ana) Knight of Granite Falls, NC; their daughter, Susan (Danny) Caldwell of Mantachie who gave them a granddaughter, April Caldwell Martin and a grandson, 1st Sgt. Brandon (Summer) Caldwell of Tupelo. He has 12 great grandchildren, Cal Caldwell, Logan Durham, Mylee Durham, Millie Durham, Harper Knight, Auddie Knight, Cadence Knight, Adaline Knight, Ariel Knight, Gavon Knight, Bentley Knight, and Halligan Knight.
In 2014 John married Juanita Franks Knight of Mantachie, and gained a much larger family with her son, Perry (Sharon) Franks, and grandchildren: April (Jon) Hood, Kayla (Jared) Comer, Anna (Brandon) Lewis, Justin (Tiphanie) Franks, and Jason Franks all of Mooreville and Mantachie communities. He gained an additional 11 great grands as well. He is also survived by his brothers: Kenneth (Brenda) Knight, Keith (Amelia) Knight; sister, Judy (Jerry) South; sister-in-law, Brenda (Bernie) McGaughy; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife and mother of his children, Faye Knight, granddaughter, April Caldwell Martin, brothers: Bill Knight and Paul Wayne Knight; sister, Betty Smith Wimbs, step-son, Michael Franks, step-great granddaughter, Paris Franks.
Pallbearers will be William Knight, Auston Knight, Coy Knight, 1st Sgt. Brandon Caldwell, Cal Caldwell, Bentley Knight
The family appreciates the love and care that John has received from Countrywood Manor and Lakeside Dementia Unit as well as Sanctuary Hospice House. Memorials may be made to Fawn Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
