John T. Stevens was born on April 8, 1939 in Three Springs, PA to Spencer and Irma Stevens. He died on August 8, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dora; daughter, Eileen Hurt of Decatur, AL, her son Calvin Hurt, wife Nicole and great-granddaughter Olivia June of Guam. John is also survived by his son, John Christopher Stevens, partner Angela, sons Zach and Connor Robinson of Huntingdon, PA and Chris’ son Brandon, wife Brittany and great-grandson Brody Parker of Sliddel, LA.; and siblings: Eleanor Stevens Cutshall, Floretta Stevens Lauber, Roy Stevens (Peggs), Susan Stevens Klann, and Neil Stevens (Vera).
John was a veteran of the United States Navy. After leaving the Navy, he continued federal service at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA, Redstone Arsenal US Army Missile Command in Huntsville, AL and in Germany with 32nd Army Air Defense Command. John and Dora both loved to travel and his job requirements gave them opportunities to visit many of the faraway places they dreamed of while growing up in Pennsylvania.
After retiring from federal service, John taught “grandfather clock-building” classes at Chrysler Training Center for seven years and spent many hours fishing and hunting Morel mushrooms. He also enjoyed repairing and restoring old clocks. John and Dora had more time to travel and visit many friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Violet Stevens Patton; brothers, Harold “Buck” Stevens, and Norman Bruce Stevens.
No services are planned. Berryhill Funeral Home assisted the family.
