John Richard Hyde was born on August 22, 1947 to J.B. and Velma Reeves Hyde. John Passed away at his home on Saturday, July 24, 2021.
John was an excellent craftsman with many different hobbies. He enjoyed building Radio Controlled (RC) airplanes and flying them with Bruce Underwood, Bill Barr and Bill Collins, Sr. He custom made high-end fishing rods, handmade duck (Cluck-N-Duck) and turkey calls.
For many years John did Case Knife repair work as well as installing stag handles on knives and pistol grips. John’s marksmanship for shooting trap far surpassed his expectations: he won many awards and was the Al State Champion in many categories for multiple years.
John was a sheetmetal journeyman, highly skilled welder, sketchman and foreman. Over the years, he worked at Monsanto, Revere, TVA Bellefonte and for Stone-Webster at TVA Browns Ferry in Athens, Al before retiring in 2005. He was known for being meticulous in his craft.
John was a proud member of local 48 Sheetmetal Union, Marshall Masonic Lodge #209 and the Guntersville First United Methodist Church. One of his most cherished moments was when he officially joined the GFUMC in 2020 where he and Judy were married in 1968.
John is survived by his loving wife, Judy, his fur babies, Simon, lizzie and Silvia, his brother Joe M. Hyde, a cherished family of aunts, uncles, brothers-&sisters-in-law, nieces , nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Joe Wesley Hyde.
Above all else, he was a kind and loving Husband, Uncle and Friend.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, July 29 at 11:00am at Guntersville First United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00pm
His service will be officiated by Pastors Rickey Smith and Mark Mayo and his Pallbearers will be his Marshall Masonic Lodge Brothers.
Following the service ,burial will take place at Crestview Cemetery.
