Funeral services for Mr. John Randolph Pollard will be held 2 PM on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in the Shelton Funeral Home Chapel in Trenton, TN with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 2 PM on Saturday.
John Randolph Pollard passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on May 4, 1940, in Gibson County, TN to the late C.B. Pollard and Lorine Pollard. A graduate, and football quarterback, of Peabody High School, he went on to attend the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. There he obtained a business degree and worked for General Electric for 30 years. He married Jean Reasons Pollard on December 22, 1967.
John and Jean lived for a brief time in Raleigh, NC, before settling in Knoxville, TN in 1979. He was a VOL for life and enjoyed attending UT football games throughout the years. He also loved to ski in the Rocky Mountains, specifically Steamboat Springs, CO. In 2004, they decided to move back to West Tennessee, to their original roots. After returning to Trenton in 2004, he returned to his Alma Mater, Peabody Highschool, and assisted with coaching the soccer team. He deeply loved the Trenton community.
John is survived by his children: Terry Smith (Rhonda), of Jackson, TN; Sherron Ostrander (Mark) of Madison, AL; Jennifer Ussery (Trey), of Powell, TN; Julie Faig (Yoss) of Cumming, GA; and Sara Davis (Mark), of Knoxville, TN. He also has three stepchildren: Susan Williams, of Dallas, TX; Dr. Jim Williams II (Rene) of Trenton, TN; and Steve Williams, of San Diego, CA. He was a loving grandfather and great grandfather to 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Mathew Ostrander (Sonda Sengupta), of Nashville, TN; Thomas Ostrander of Madison, AL; Abigail Williams, of Nashville, TN; Annabel Anderson (Ryan), of Louisville, KY; Christopher Ussery (Sydney), of Knoxville TN; James Michael Ussery, of Knoxville, TN; Daniel, John, Jay and Ben Faig of Cumming, GA. Great grandchildren include Azrin S. Ostrander, of Nashville, TN and Georgia and Hattie Ussery, of Knoxville, TN.
