johnJohn Patrick (Pat) Gibbons, age 89, of Rogersville, died Friday at his residence. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oliver church of Christ, with Spry Funeral Home directing, body will lie in state from 9:30 till service, with David O’Connell and Daniel Ridinger officiating. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Oliver church of Christ. Burial will be at 3:30 in Memory Gardens, Henderson, Tennessee.
Mr. Gibbons was born May 6, 1925, in Hundred, West Virginia. He was a member of Oliver church of Christ, a graduate of Hundred High School, a World War II Navy Veteran, attended West Virginia University and Freed Hardeman College. He received his Master’s Degree from Alabama School of Preaching. He served congregations of the church of Christ in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Alabama for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Willodyne Gibbons, Rogersville; Son: John Gibbons and wife, Tammy, Memphis, Tennessee; Daughters: Joyce Bloomingburg and husband, Randy, Henderson, Tennessee; Patricia Johnson and husband, Paul, Bristow, Virginia; Lisa Buckelew and husband, Timmy, Guntersville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister: Elizabeth Lemley, Hundred, West Virginia; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents: Clyde and Pearl Gibbons; brother, Jim Gibbons.
Memorials may be made to Freed Hardeman Old Main Renovation.
