John Murray Houtz passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 3, 1952, to his parents John and Ruth Houtz.

John worked as a teacher for the Huntsville City School system then went on to work in communications for NASA. He was a genius in all things stock market and economy. John was a veteran whose patriotism ran deep and the biggest Alabama fan you’ve ever seen! But above all, he was kind, loving, and caring. John is doing all the things he loves most: playing the piano, smoking cigars, watching football with his mother, and seeing the most breathtaking mountain top views that only Heaven has to offer.

John was outlived by his sister, Sharon Mendoza and brother-in-law Fred Mendoza. John was blessed to have many nieces and a nephew that loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be Sunday, October 6, 2024, at 1:00pm at The Episcopal Church of Nativity.
