John Michael Cooper, 69, was born March 31, 1948 in Fayetteville, Tennessee and died March 30, 2018 at his residence in Taft, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene A. Cooper and Anibel Rogers Cooper.
Survived by his brother, Jim W. Cooper, and sister-in-law Carol Bailey Cooper, both of Taft, Tennessee, his nieces, Mary A. Cooper of Hazel Green, Alabama and Kimesha Cooper Thompson and her husband, Eric Thompson, of Taft, Tennessee, his great nieces,
Ashton C. Moran and Grace A. Hughes, and his great nephew, Cooper R. Moran.
As a teenager, Mike became a member of Unity Church of Christ.
He was a 1966 graduate of Ardmore High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University for three and half year. He exited college to take a teaching position at Flintville High School to coach basketball and to teach.
After his teaching and coaching experience, he moved on to a variety of occupations. In April of 1982, he began his long career with the Lincoln County Water Department. He was a devoted employee working until his death. Through the years with the Lincoln County Board of Public Utilities, he worked and trained to the highest Grade Water Treatment Plant Operator.
His interest included playing guitar, painting, photographing nature and wildlife, developing his own pictures, hunting,fishing, training bird dogs, raising quail to train his bird dogs, target shooting, making his own knives, and watching NASCAR. He enjoyed feeding the birds, nurturing rose bushes, back porch gardening, taking in stray cats and reminiscing with family and friends.
A visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 03, 2018 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be at Prosperity Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN. Mike Davis will be officiating. Pallbearers are Royce Tucker, Bryan Tucker, Troy Logan, Joey Clark, Rusty Sisk, and
Joe Clark.
