John "Mike" Michael Belyeu John Michael Belyeu passed away on October 19, 2023, at the age of 75. Mike was born on October 2, 1948, and spent his formative years in Rosa, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willard Belyeu and Esther Faust Belyeu, as well as his brother-in-law, Carl Frederick.
Mike is survived by his wife, Claudia Ann Belyeu, son, Gabe Belyeu, daughter and son-in-law, Rachael and John Cunningham, grandson, David Cunningham, his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cindy Belyeu and their children, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Steve Faulkner and their children, sister-in-law, Siouxsie Frederick, and a host of cousin
After graduating from Cleveland High School in 1967, Mike earned a BS in Chemistry at the University of Alabama in 1971. He graduated from the UAB School of Medicine in 1974 and completed his residency in Family Practice at the College of Community Health Sciences in Tuscaloosa. In 1977, Mike helped found Sand Mountain Family Practice Center in Albertville. For 40 years, he cared for patients, becoming a trusted doctor in the community.
Mike was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, bringing joy and happiness to his family. He was a trusted friend to many, always ready to help or listen. Faith played a significant role in Mike’s life; he was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Mike had an array of interests that showcased his vibrant personality. He found joy in watercolor painting, gardening, birdwatching, reading, and golfing. He loved woodworking and furniture making, caring for his backyard chickens, walking his dog, Murphy, winemaking, beermaking, solving sudoku and word puzzles, and cooking. Above all, Mike treasured spending time with family and friends.
John Michael Belyeu will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. His kindness, wit, creativity, intelligence, and friendly demeanor will forever be cherished.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday beginning at 12:00 pm. Officiants assisting with services will be Pastor Carol Gullatt, Reverend Mike Ratcliff and Reverand Berry “Booboo” Faust. A private family graveside service will be held on Thursday at Union Grove #1 Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers assisting Mike to his final resting place will include; George Liles, Ed Murray, Caylor Slivka, Andy Powell, Wayne Peters and Buddy Sherrer; honorary pallbearers, Bill Brown, Larry Sherrer, John Slivka and Mike Brewer.
