John Marcellus “J.M.” Berry, 99, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge. He was born in Vina, AL and had been a resident of Oak Ridge, TN since 1945. He was a chemical operator in nuclear energy and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.
Graveside services will be Saturday, June 1, 2 p.m. at Halltown Cemetery, Vina, AL with Dr. John Horton officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by a daughter, Carol Horton; one grandson, Dr. John Horton (Dr. Jessica Horton); one great-grandson, John Morrow “Jack” Horton; one brother, Charles Berry (Sandra) and one sister, Kay Deaton (Dean).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Morrow Berry; his parents, Sidney A. Berry and Rena Weatherford Berry; one brother, Gene Weatherford Berry and two sisters, Wilma Johnson and Nina Hensley.
Pallbearers will be David Deaton, Jamie Berry, Charles Berry, Mike Morrow, Dr. John Horton and Johnnie Weatherford.
