John M. Shanholtzer – Obituary

Major John M. Shanholtzer, US Army (Ret.), 73, of Huntsville, passed away at Huntsville Hospital on Wednesday, September 30, 2015. He was born in Livingston, Montana, attended Bozeman High School and graduated from Chaminade University of Honolulu, Hawaii.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, John was stationed in Korea, Japan, Hawaii and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma during his 20 year military career. He retired from the US Army in 1984 and was then employed in Huntsville by Whittaker Corporation, Nichols Research, Inc. and Tec-Masters, Inc. He was with Tec-Masters, Inc. for 24 years and had most recently held the position of Deputy Director.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Liz; two sons, Keefe and Brett and two grandchildren, Mikayla and Ike. He is also survived by his mother, Josephine and his brother and brother’s wife, Craig and Cheris.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 6, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home in Huntsville. The family will be receiving guests at 12:00 pm, followed by the presentation of military honors at 1:00.
