John Luther Craig, 71, of Florence passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at his residence. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM till 1:00 PM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Lawrence Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Fergason Cemetery around 1:30 PM with Roger Lovelady officiating. Burial will be in Fergason Cemetery.

John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend. He was a 1970 graduate of Hatton High School and was a member of Second Baptist Church Sheffield. John was an avid Alabama Fan. His favorite thing in life was his family, he loved encouraging the grandchildren in their mischief. John loved singing with Caroline, going on road trips and doing what best friends do. He loved going with Rena to auctions and spending all their money. Anytime was fun time when John was with his family. He loved his church family and attended every service he was able to attended. He even wanted to go on days he wasn’t able. John rejoiced in the Lord even on his hard days.

Survivors include his wife of thirty eight years, Rena Craig, his loving daughter, Caroline Miles (Jamie), three grandchildren, Destiny Petty (Davonte), Dylan Craig and Deserae Miles, two great grandchildren, Houston Miles and Jayla Petty, one sister, Sue Appleton (Tommy).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Paul Craig, his sister, Bonita Byars and his brother, David Craig.

Pallbearers will be Craig Byars, Chad Appleton, Jim Byars, Dylan Craig, Bruce Perry and Johnny Miles. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Adcock, Steve Bradford and Steve Lansford.

The family extends special thanks to Kindred Hospice, Rosa Darby and Renea Jones.
