John Luther Agee – Obituary

John Luther Agee, 73, a resident of Athens, passed away on January 12, 2017. He was born on September 21, 1943 to Ottis Herman Agee and Floy Allen Agee. He attended Tanner High School. He was a member of Central Church of Christ. John Luther ran the family business of Reid Grocery, retired from Valley Steel Construction and worked with the Limestone County Sheriff’s Department.

John Luther loved his family, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life.Being a part of their lives and activities were the highlight of his day. He also loved to travel, farm, deer hunt and visit family and friends. He was a selfless person, always ready to help others.

He is preceded in death by his wife Nancy Holland Agee, his parents Ottis and Floy Agee, and sister Annie Ruth Raney. He is survived by his son Dan Agee (Sharon) of Athens, daughter Lynn Mayo (Jeff) of Harvest, grandchildren Heather Townsend (David), Jacob and Luke Mayo, great-grandchildren Parker and Mary-Catherine Townsend.

Services will be Sunday, January 15, 2017 3:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bill Perkins and Kasey Harbin officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kip Raney, Dee Holland, Matthew Holland, Chris Holland, Shawn Holland, Shane Kirby and Wally Messer.

In lieu of flowers please make memorials to Central Church of Christ or Hospice of Limestone County.
