  John T. "Lil John" Sowins Profile PhotoJohn “Lil John” Sowins, age 57 of Fayette AL, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at DCH of Tuscaloosa. Services for Mr. Sowins will be Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Norwood-Wyatt Chapel, at 5:00 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Bro. Mike Perrigin will be officiating the service. Norwood-Wyatt Chapel will be directing the service.

Lil John is preceded in death by his grandparents; Pauline and Durwood Stough, Kermit Fowler, and John and Marion Sowins.

He is survived by his beloved wife; Patricia “Trish” Sowins of Fayette AL, daughters; Eden Sowins of Jackson TN, Tonya (Chad) Nichols of Coaling AL, Amanda (Daniel) Miller of Port Orange FL, son; Tyler (Dakota) Sowins of Fayette AL, brother; Joe Sowins of Ethelsville AL, parents; John and Sarah Sowins of Fayette AL, and grandchildren; Tyson Sowins of Fayette AL, Chandler Ellis of Henderson TN, Drake Ellis of Henderson TN, Logan Ellis of Henderson TN, Christian Miller of Port Orange FL, Payton Miller of Port Orange FL, Chase Nichols of Coaling AL, and Zoey Nichols of Coaling AL.

John spent most of his childhood in Illinois, but came to Alabama in the summertime to spend time with his grandparents, Polly and Durwood. He began fishing and winning bass tournaments at the age of 12.

John loved the outdoor life; hunting, fishing, and golfing. He shared this love with many children and teens throughout the years. He delighted in watching a young kid catch a fish or kill their first deer.

John never met a stranger! He loved to talk and share his knowledge of whatever he was doing. He worked at many different jobs throughout his lifetime and strived for perfection at everything he did.

He had such a great compassion about animals. If he saw an animal being abused or mistreated, he took action and did something about it.

Lil John Sowins was one of kind!!
