Obituary of John Kenson WoodJohn Kenson Wood, 87, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, September 8, 2018. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, September 12 at Roselawn Funeral Home, 741 Danville Road SW Decatur, Alabama 35601. The family will receive friends starting at 11:00 am. John will be laid to rest at Burning Tree Memorial Gardens. John was born December 7, 1930 in Lake County, Illinois to Clarence and Mary (Thomas) Wood. He graduated from Science Hill High School in 1950 in Johnson City, Tennessee. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in December, 1950 and served his country until December, 1954. Afterwards he attended The University of Alabama. On June 24,1960 he married the former Nella Jo (Allen) in Morgan City, Alabama. John was employed as a computer technician at General Electric and Intergraph for most of his professional career. He and his wife Jo loved to square dance and spent many years dancing across the Sate of Alabama and beyond. In his later years he loved spending time traveling the United States with his wife Jo and spending time with family. He especially loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. John was an avid reader and loved to garden. He grew the most beautiful roses and irises. John is survived his wife Nella Jo Wood, his three children, Angela (Woody) Wood (Kimberley) of Loxley, Alabama, David Wood (Jennifer) of Decatur, Alabama, and Deborah Littleton (Damon) of Alabaster, Alabama; five grandchildren, Cooper, Dawson, Chloe, Dylan and Daven as well as multiple nieces and nephews.
