Services to celebrate the life of John “Johnny” E. Burnett III, 81, will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Henry Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church Fellowship Hall.
John died on December 5, 2020 at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He was born in Corinth on January 25, 1939 to the late John E., Jr. and Grace Claunch Burnett. He was a 1957 graduate of Corinth High School and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Finance in 1961. He then served our country in the U.S. Army and spent his career at Union Planters Bank in Memphis, TN. John was a member of First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed traveling, Ole Miss football, family genealogy, Corinth history, Easy Listening and Classical music. Throughout his years, he spent as much time as he could volunteering for any organization in need of a helpful, smiling and loving soul who simply wanted to make this world a better and happier place.
He is survived by his spouse, Brandon Lowrey; brother, Jim Burnett (Linda); nephews, Phil Burnett (Lana), Brent Burnett, and Vic Burnett (Melonie); great-nieces, great- nephews, and numerous cousins. John and his cousin Jeanene Duncan Wingett (Bill) grew up near each other and were lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his partner of 40 years, Ed Barnes; brother Jerry Lynn Burnett and an infant sister, Barbara Ann Burnett.
Services will be officiated by Rev. Waring Porter and Rev. Don Elliott with special solo by Chad Dickerson. Pallbearers are Phil Burnett, Brent Burnett, Vic Burnett, John Frame, Hayden Worsham and Bill McCrary. Honorary Pallbearers are the Crossroads Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in honor of John Burnett III to American Red Cross or the Amen Food Pantry.
