John “Jay” William Wilson

To Whom It May Concern: It’s true. I must report that I did indeed pass from this world on January 6, 2024. It must have been God’s plan because it was a shock that I wasn’t quite ready for. However, life happens, and I have joined other loved ones in heaven. Please don’t despair. I am an adventurer at heart and I reassure you that this one is indeed a grand one. Remember me for my military career, my faith, and my family. Take care of each other! I am watching you. Your memories will call me and I will answer; probably with slap-stick comedy. I lived life fully. I served my Country for 22 years in the U.S. Army until my retirement. I then worked at CSC as a Computer Scientist and Systems Engineer for Missile Defense, which included travel to lovely “garden spots” in Alaska, England and Greenland, until my retirement after 17 years. I Captained the high seas and Piloted the open skies in my own plane. I traveled far and wide; the Bahamas, Tahiti, Hilton Head, Europe, Paris, Normandy, and many other historical battle sites here in the United States. Since 1990, I was blessed with my beautiful wife, Gisele, at my side. Gisele is as much the adventurer as I and has been a perfect life partner for me all these years. I love you, dear Gisele. Thank you, for teaching me to love quilting almost as much as you do! I have two wonderful children, Maria and David from my first marriage with Kathy. Maria and David have blessed me with 7 grandchildren. Last, but, certainly not least, without fanfare, my own siblings Donna, Scott, Debbie, and Mark provided my life with music, camaraderie, rivalry, support and love. God has a plan – I trust in him, and I must say goodbye for now. As Emily Dickinson wrote, “So we must keep apart, you there, I here, with just the door ajar…” Until we meet again.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Laughlin Service Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 2-4 PM. A private family burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama on January 12, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation at T2T.org
