John “Jason” Rovenstine was called home to Heaven on November 27, 2024, at the age of 55. Born on August 29, 1969, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, he was the son of John Timothy “Tim” and Roberta Carol Rovenstine. Jason lived in Guatemala until the age of 7, where his parents, dedicated missionaries, instilled in him a profound love for the Lord and a passion for serving others.
Jason attended John Brown University, where he earned degrees in journalism and construction management. His adventurous spirit led him to begin a motorcycle journey to Panama after his studies. In 1998, Jason married Lisa, and they welcomed their first child, Sofie, in January of 1999. The couple went on to have three more children: Elle, Vienna, and John “Von” Rovenstine. The family began their life together in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, before moving to Ohio, and later to Mexico in 2008, where they served the community of Valle de Bravo alongside Jason’s parents. The Rovenstine family spent four years in Lakeville, Minnesota, where they created lasting memories, fostering a strong community wherever they lived.
Jason’s expertise in Christian book publishing led to many fulfilling years of work. In 2008, he co-founded Summerside Press and Ellie Claire Gift & Paper. When Ellie Claire was acquired by Worthy Publishing in 2013, the family relocated to Franklin, TN. Two years later, Jason returned to his roots at DaySpring in Siloam Springs, where he continued his work in business and product development.
Jason was a devoted, loving father who found great joy in investing in the lives of his children. He taught them the value of integrity, hard work, and adventure. Most importantly, he shared with them his deep love for the Lord. Jason was passionate about serving the special needs community and was an active member of his church. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, whether working on household projects or restoring old trucks.
Jason’s legacy lives on through his beloved family. He is survived by his former wife, Lisa, and their children: Sofie Brown (Liam), Elle, Vienna, and Von Rovenstine. He is also survived by his parents, Tim and Roberta Rovenstine, and his siblings: Regina “Gina” Martinez, Charrisa Urban (John), Joel Rovenstine, and Marlita Camacho. Jason is further survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. His ability to form deep, lasting connections and his kindness, humor, and generosity will be missed by all who knew him.
Jason’s life was tragically cut short while finishing the motorcycle trip he started through South America, a journey he had dreamed of completing since his college days. During his six months on the road, Jason had a profound and transformative experience, growing closer to the Lord in ways that have already impacted many who have heard his story. His life was a journey of redemption, culminating in his ultimate encounter with Jesus face to face in Heaven.
Funeral service will be held 1:00PM Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Fellowship Bible Church, 1210 Franklin Rd. Brentwood, TN 37027.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to The Jason Rovenstine Memorial Fund at Outreach center. Family and close friends are invited to join the Rovenstine family for a reception following the service at Fellowship Bible Church.
