John Henry Starnes, 80n of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born May 30, 1941 to Henry and Annie Bell Elledge Starnes in Baileyton, Cullman County, AL. He was a graduate of Arab High School and Auburn University and was a Cost Analyst at Redstone Arsenal for over 40 years. Mr. Starnes was a deacon and very active member of Whitesburg Baptist Church where he had the gift of service leading the bus ministry and went on many mission trips. He also served in lay ministry for people who were sick and hurting and went on hospital visitations.
Mr. Starnes is survived by his wife of 53 Mary Morris Starnes; son John Philip Starnes; and sister Peggy Hueter (Uwe). He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister Edna Bertram.
The family will receive friends Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus. Graveside service will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery with a memorial service following on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus.
